Why Eco-Friendly Pallet Products Matter
The pallet industry processes over 700 million palletsannually in the United States alone. Without responsible recycling and reuse programs, millions of tons of perfectly usable wood would end up in landfills every year. At Pallets West Coast, sustainability is not a marketing buzzword—it is the foundation of how we operate.
Every used pallet we sell has been diverted from the waste stream, inspected for structural integrity, and sorted by grade so you get exactly the quality level your application demands. Our new and custom pallets are manufactured from responsibly sourced Pacific Northwest lumber, and the sawdust and offcuts from our shop are recycled into animal bedding and mulch.
Choosing recycled pallets over new ones reduces demand for virgin timber, lowers your supply chain's carbon footprint, and saves you money in the process. It is one of those rare win-win-win scenarios in business: good for the planet, good for your budget, and good for the community.
We are proud to serve Oregon's Willamette Valley and the broader West Coast from our yard at 1875 W 6th Ave, Eugene, OR 97402. Whether you need a single stack of used 48x40s or a truckload of custom-built platforms, every order helps close the loop on wood waste in our region.

The Environmental Case for Wood Pallets
Wood pallets are not just the most economical choice—they are the most sustainable packaging platform in the supply chain when managed through responsible recycling programs.
By the Numbers: U.S. Pallet Industry
Lifecycle Carbon Comparison
Independent lifecycle analyses consistently show that wood pallets have the lowest cradle-to-grave carbon footprint of any pallet material. Here is how the total lifecycle CO2 emissions compare for a standard 48" x 40" pallet:

Pallet Buyer's Guide: Choosing the Right Product
Selecting the right pallet is not just about price. Answer these questions to narrow down the best product for your operation.
1. What are you shipping?
Light consumer goods under 1,500 lbs can go on any grade of used pallet. Heavy industrial loads (2,000+ lbs) need Grade A used or new pallets with confirmed load ratings. Fragile goods benefit from new pallets with anti-slip mats.
2. Where is it going?
Domestic shipments within the U.S. do not require heat treatment—used pallets are the economical choice. International exports require ISPM-15 heat-treated pallets, which means new or verified HT-stamped used pallets.
3. Will the pallet come back?
One-way shipments favor budget-friendly Grade B or C used pallets. Multi-trip pool systems benefit from new or Grade A pallets that will last 15+ cycles and maintain consistent dimensions.
4. Does appearance matter?
Customer-facing applications (retail display, trade shows, branded experiences) need new pallets with optional stenciling. Internal warehouse use and B2B shipping can use any condition grade.
5. Is your facility automated?
Robotic palletizers, AS/RS systems, and automated conveyors require pallets with tight dimensional tolerances (plus or minus 1/8 inch). New or custom pallets are the safest choice here. Used pallets may vary in dimension and cause jams.
6. What industry regulations apply?
FDA-regulated food facilities, SQF-certified plants, and pharmaceutical operations typically require new pallets with no contamination history. Agriculture may have state-level phytosanitary rules. Check with your compliance team before ordering.
7. What is your budget per pallet?
Under $8/unit: Grade B or C used pallets. $8 to $15/unit: Grade A used or standard new softwood. $15 to $30/unit: New hardwood, custom dimensions, or specialty builds. $30+/unit: Heavy-duty custom, branded, or automation-grade pallets.
8. How fast do you need them?
Same-day: Used pallets from our 50,000+ unit inventory. 3 to 7 days: Standard new pallets. 5 to 14 days: Custom designs. If you have a recurring need, ask about our scheduled delivery program for uninterrupted supply.
